The effects of Lipogen PSPA on the endocrine and psychological responses to mental stress

Subjects who took Lipogen PSPA in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study showed decreased stress responses

This research investigated the effects of Lipogen PSPA supplementation on pituitary adrenal reactivity and on the psychological response to mental and emotional stressors – using the Spielberger State Anxiety Inventory stress subscale.

Two groups of 20 subjects were treated daily for three weeks with Lipogen PSPA or a placebo before exposure to the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST). Treatment with Lipogen PSPA resulted in a pronounced blunting of serum ACTH, cortisol (stress hormone) and salivary cortisol responses to the TSST, but did not affect heart rate.

Lipogen PSPA seemed to exert a positive effect on emotional responses to the stress test. While the placebo group showed increased distress, the Lipogen PSPA group showed decreased distress. This  initial evidence for Lipogen PSPA’s stress dampening effect on the pituitary-adrenal axis suggests the potential for treating stress-related disorders.
